I've been to several plantations in the south, this was not one of them. I did learn that it was never a real working plantation as it had no cash crop and they have no idea where the name came from. The tour of the house was very informative.Ilearn a lot about the many familys that live there. If I get back to area, I will back time to see this again
The tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of Charlotte as well as the home's family and architecture. I highly recommend this tour and look forward to returning when the gardens are in bloom.

Great site

I agree that this is a great house and a great tour. The tour guide brings the "backcountry" and the family to life. If you travel to Charlotte, this is a "don't miss."

Wonderful old plantation house
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/16/06
I would guess the previous reviewer did NOT go on a tour of the house. It dates to 1815 and was a family home well into the 20th century. The tour is most informative of the history of the area as well as the history of the house. Highly recommended.

the picture is much nicer than the place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/07/06
The picture is much nicer than the place. It's only 5 dollars to visit the whole place, but it's not worthy. The place is old and all we looked at was trees. The garden has nothing to look at.
