We've been all over to see art museums from LA to Paris. This place the employees were rude, the art was just sad, and the visit was a huge disappointment. Go to the De Young Museum in Golden Gate Park. You'll be much happier.

not a student-friendly museum.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/22/08
The staff from the SF MoMa are very unfriendly and mean, especially if you're a student getting a discounted ticket. The information desk is not very helpful. The receptionist was very lazy, and seemed like she did not want to do her job at all, as if it was an inconvenience for her to help customers. The security people are also gawking at ...

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/17/08
Skip this place! Instead go to the de Young Museum and the Legion of Honor Museum.
Some of the mordern "art" I might have called interesting, however there were a few pieces that pretty much left me completely turned off. There was a urinal (appeared to be used). There was blank canvas with a florecsent light next to it. There was ...

Gift Shop
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/12/07
Modern Art is not one of my favorite things, so I never spend money to go into the museum. However the gift shop is one of the best gift shops of any museum I have been to. I would reccommend anyone go to the free gift shop first I can always find something interesting to buy there. So many of the things make great thoughtful gifts.
I've never ever liked an art museum until yesterday. The museum helps you understand what you're looking at and helps you understand why it's important with little blurbs to the side of selected paintings. It gives you context without telling you what to think. Thank you so much for becoming my liasion to art SFMOMA. I am forever in your debt as I know love art.
If you're into all things artsy, then this is the place for you. The only thing here that caught my eye was the photography exhibits. Some great work on display by talented photographers can be found here. Otherwise, it was a little too high brow to suit me.
SFMOMA is a beautiful place to go--the architecture is modern and inside is spacious. They have world class art and photography exhibits beautifully produced. For Art Lovers, SFMOMA is a "must see!"
Modern art of such a wide variety that there is something for every age of art lover. Try taking your children to an educational experience they will never forget. Art appreciation begins at an early age. My daughter & I had a great time & picked out an art postcard after in the gift shop of our favorite piece of artwork that we saw that day. An inexpensive reminder of our trip together to the MOMA.
I loved the layout of the art museum and my friends and I had a great time exploring the many wonderful exibits. I liked the fact that you are able to leave and return on the same day so you can go grab lunch in the park and return for the afternoon.
