Put it simply - I got food poisoning off the ahi tataki from Sansei in Waikiki. It tasted strange but stupid me I didnt want to let it go to waste so I ate a few pieces of it. BAD IDEA.

The food was some of the best I've ever had. The service was outstanding and everyone there were enjoying their meals.

My wife and I had the calamari, ono, poke and sushi, all were outstanding.

This place was great and I don't give out compliments easily.

We went to the kihei location at the recommendation of some locals we had met. The food was amazing!!! How anyone could not love the food is beyond me, all you have to do is try their award winning rock shrimp birds nest appetizer and your in heaven.We went late so we got 50% off the menu prices which was an added bonus.

Both the food and service an Sansei were outstanding. Our waiter was extremely helpful in picking from the restaurant's large menu. We ordered what we were told was the freshest fish that day: ahi tuna, yellowtail, and red snapper. All were excellent.

PROS: The best sushi I have ever had. It just melts in your mouth. The bar/lounge makes the best Mai Tai's in the world. It's probably best to get there kind of early, as to get a nice spot to eat or even to get a seat by the bar/lounge.

We have been to Maui 3 times and have eaten at Sansei more than once each time we have been. We live in DC and have eaten sushi in NYC, LA, SF, etc. and this is hands down the BEST sushi we have ever eaten. Surprisingly few good restaurants on Maui. This stands out only by local comparison. If you're familiar with the NYC or San Fran scenes this will be a downer.

I love the food and the desserts i only wish the resturant accomidated more people and the service was as excellent as the food.The sake is also a big plus!!!!

we are from San Francisco and eat a lot of sushi... but this was truly the best we've had. What the restaurant lacks w/ its low-key ambiance it more than makes up for in its exceptional food -- both sushi and other cooked seafood dishes. We went there twice during our one-week trip on the island. I have since recommended to friends and everyone loves it.
