Don't get this mixed up with Waimea, Hawaii on the Big Island. You have this listed under good things to do on the Big Island. There are Waimea's on othere Islands (Oahu...), so it can be confusing.

Yes the road is very rough, and we thought about giving up and turning back, so glad we didn't!! This place was so very beautiful, very worth the time and wow private! You will feel like you own the beach, as hardky anyone is around. Get naked and enjoy this wonderful place!!

My wife and I recently spent two weeks on Kaua'i, I am sorry to say that the lowest point of our trip took place at this beach. After braving the awful road to this place (I cannot imagine this road after even light rain), our rental car was broken into as we napped on the beach. There are plenty of other beautiful beaches on Kaua'i.

Polihale Beach

We married on this beach at sunset and chose it because it was so incredibly beautiful with the NaPali coastline in the background! Rain earlier in the day gave us a rainbow just as we drove to the beach. What more could you want?!

Polihale State Park

If you plan to catch a sunset at all on the island, you are sure to see the best from Polihale State Park. You will encounter your best chance to observe the 'green-flash' as the sun drops into the Pacific with the "Forbidden Island" in the background. I know that you will enjoy the sugar-white sand dunes as well as the pristine aqua-blue water, and that you will no doubt remember this always...
