A lava shelf protects the inner beach from surf, there is an excellent shallow and calm area for small children. Good for just floating around and snorkeling. Away from the more populated beaches. Good amenities (rinse water, shelters, barbecues, etc.) Camping allowed at east end. We loved it, and after finding it went there every day until we had to come home.
