  • Wonderful, relaxing and picturesque
    By Pat, 11/19/08
We were staying in a self catering property a few minutes drive from this lovely pueblo. With its white washed houses, narrow cobbled streets the village has got many tourist shops but also a large variety of restaurants catering for all budgets and tastes. We found the best one near the entry on the right hand side called Restaurant El Puerto ...

  • The Real Mijas
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/11/08
Mijas is a treasure, other reviews are misleading. OK the donkies may be a bit wiffy but the town certainly is not. As for animal manure all through the streets this is just not true. A cleaning machine appears to work constantly. There are some really good value family run restaurants serving home cooked food. Try the Alarcon in the Barrio ...

  • Great base of operations
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/03/06
Mijas is one of the Andalucian white pueblos. The town sits on a mountainside with a wonderful view of the Mediterranean to the south, and mountains to the north. Conveniently located about 25 minutes from Malaga's international airport, it presents a compelling combination of access to amenities as well as areas of seclusion. There are a few ...

  • One big souvenir shop.
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/08/05
Mijas may be picturesque and is worth a visit for the views, but the restaurants are poor quality and overpriced, and it has basically developed into one large souvenir shop.

I would recommend a morning's sightseeing there but no more.

Having lived in Andalucía for over 10 years now I have visited many much more authentic white villages, ...

  • over done
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/13/04
Mijas is overpriced in goods. The same merchandise can be found at the beaches (made in China) for half the price. The restauraunts over priced.... The atmosphere contrived... The best thing about the place is the chapel up in the hills and the walk up to it!

  • Fun, Fun, Fun.
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/03/04
Take the public bus from any of the coastal towns;it's about $1.45 round trip. The shops are friendly, the people helpful, and the fun is everywhere. Most resturants have views of the ocean 2000 ft below or the mountains behind the village. The shops have great gifts and the town is charming. There is much to do but it takes only a relaxing half day.

  • Mijas Pueblo
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/17/04
Mijas is one of the Andalusian White Villages (Pueblos Blancos) in Southern Spain. It has a privileged position being situated at 1400 feet above sea level with an incredible view overlooking the Mediterranean. The town has many restaurants and shops catering to tourists, and several interesting sites that are all within walking distance of one ...
