  • Square United SCAM
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/27/09
Alex and Desmond (YoYo) are very devious. They will sucker you in under false pretenses, use false and misleading documents stating untrue R.R.P. and resort to blind trickery to try and con foreigners. Luckily after a quick check of prices on my iPhone for an item I never new I always wanted I managed to leave only losing 1 hour of my life rather ...

  • Don't shop at SLR PRO PTE LTD, 1st floor
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/28/09
These retailers lie to you and over charge you for discontinued items. They try to get you to pay before they show you the items so they can give you broken products after already taking your money. If you refuse, they will call other retailers into the shop to intimidate you into buying broken items. DO NOT even enter this shop, it is run by thugs.

  • Singapore Tourism Board - Supports Sim Lim
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/23/09
In following up on my posting below, STB has recently responded and it seems like there is nothing they can or is willing to do about the conduct of Sim Lim traders. See below.

I understand that it is a free market, but isn’t there laws and regulation that exists to protect the consumer from unfair, deceptive, dishonest trade practices? If ...

  • SQUARE UNITED (S)CAM
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/20/09
I wish I had read the comments here before shopping at Sim Lim square. During my recent vist to Singapore I stopped by to purchase a video camera and was sold one for more than $400 dollars that online retailers back home. This was an impulsive buy and it probably serves me right for not doing my homework. But the old cons working in this store ...

  • AVOID Meyer Electronics #01-50
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/05/09
The salesmen there use unabashed trickery tactics and gross misrepresentation of the products they are flogging. It is a fine line between what they do and that of charlatans and swindlers. They will lure the customer into thinking that a Sanyo Xacti videocam launched 2 years ago is actually latest in the market by doing the following:

  • SQUARE UNITED CAM @ SIM LIM SQUARE - LEAGL ROBBERY
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/18/09
I guess the store name really have some truth in it, just with some typos.
SQUARE = yes, they way they treated customers changed from ROUND to SQUARE after they've sold you the products.

UNITED = yes, the Boss and the sales are so UNITED when they are digging into your pocket, sold us a S$366 camera for S$580

    CAM = I think this one is a ...

  • Royal Plus: 1st Floor in the centre. Avoid.
    By Harry, 02/16/09
I won't waste as much time tearing into this sham of a shop as I ought to, but suffice to say that they appear to be incapable of the most rudimentary customer service standards. My Nintendo Wii, which I paid $100 to have serviced, took weeks to be returned and appears to have been temporarily lost. The individual responsible, Jason Chong, ...
