I spend a day in Heidelberg on a trip with my school and it was my favourite city. The castle was just so beautiful even if some parts were being renovated. Our guide was just too great. He told us all these amazing stories about the castle and what happened in the different places. I would definately recommand spending a couple hours at the castle because I'm sure you won't regret it.
