Great for children and adults. My parents took me as a child and now I take my children. The Observation area is fun and the ride is great!

A blast, but "conductors" aren't always funny
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/15/09
A great ride up and back. Get there early (before it opens) and avoid a long wait. Not for those who aren't fond of heights.
The "conductor" had a misplaced and morbid sense of humor, and it didn't work very well for small kids and folks who dislike heights. Maybe the staff have made the trip 8 zillion times and they're ...
We parked at the bottom & rode up. I have never been so scared in all my life. The last incline is what got me! It is straight up!!!!!! I was shakin & had to go to bathroom twice while on top! I was so scared about going back down That I could not enjoy the beautiful view from the top. It was easier going back down, but I would wish this fear on my worst enemy!!!! Sign me as... "Left My CRAP at the TOP!"
This is great for kids but the line is what causes the grief. It was interesting to hear the history of the railway, but think that kids enjoy it more. It being a train and going uphill and all.

Not worth it... SAVE YOUR MONEY
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/11/08
I went with my partner to Chattanooga and we did the Incline Car down and then up. I parked the car, went in to get quarters, and when I came out, found a ticket on my windshield. I looked around and no one was there. No one inside seemed concerned.
I now wonder if this is not an orchestrated rip-off.
I was a bit scared at first to ride it because of the incline of it, but it was nothing and it was pretty awesome!!!!
But I really wish ... there was some kind of an attraction at the bottom stop.. but there was nothing other than a souvenir shop.
Definitely take a trip here! ! !

Parking meters are a tourist trap!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/07/06
A few years ago, my family didn't have a lot of money saved but wanted to go off for vacation. I was told Chattanooga and Lookout Mountain was a great place to go on a budget. We enjoyed the whole trip with the exception of the incline railway. We made the mistake of parking at the top station. The meters there are over priced, and only give ...
I had ridden the incline railway about 20 years ago with my parents.
I remember it differently than I recently experienced it. I remember there being a bustling of things to do at the top. I thought Rock City and Ruby Falls were up there too.
Seems there was a shuttle service from the top to Ruby Falls and Rock City. It was discontinued 5+ ...

Lookout for the busses
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/27/05
Best advice is to go elsewhere if you see a tour bus in their lot. They have two cars and seating is limited. It is first come - first serve. When the line is long you get to wait and wait. Were advised to park in lower lot (free) due to parking meters on top. Staff was unconcerned about delays.
