The 'Old Kentucky Home' has replaced the Thomas Wolfe house which burned down several years ago. Instead of a tour of his childhood in Asheville, NC, it has become a tribute to his Mother's boardinghouse, and she is oddly idolized as a Feminist 'before her time'.
There is very little to see about Thomas Wolfe's life ...
thier is a museum next to the Thomas Wolfe memorial (the memorial house is where he lived as a young man) It is a minimal cost per person ( I recall $1.00 per person when we went, June, 2006), the guide was extremely knowledgeable and the tour was very good and well worth it along with the next door museum which you can view and gives you a detailed overview of Thomas Wolfe, recommend it.
