  • Excellent and authentic food
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/10/07
This place has an AMAZING wine list. The chef is extremely knowledgeable in wine and is a talented chef with a passion for food. The food is really authentic as well and I love that the chef likes to play around with unique ingredients. Our service was fine and I liked that the restaurant isn't at street level. It made for a cozy and private meal. One of my favorite places to eat in Asheville hands down.

  • The purpose of reviews!

My wife and I are visiting Asheville and we're planning to dine out tonight. There were 15 negative reviews and 2 positive reviews of the Flying Frog Cafe. It is one thing to have bad food & service but to have so many awful reactions to the manager tells you something. There are times when things happen and your food may not be up to ...

  • Great food
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/21/07
Very unique menu. Never seen German and Indian food sharing a menu. Almost too many things to choose from. Fabulous salmon/scallop entree. Great presentation, scallops were cooked to perfection. Service was attentive without being annoying. When in Avl, this is a place not to miss.

  • You're Kidding!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/11/07
If you enjoy eating in the basement of an old building in downtown, then this is the place for you. This restaurant used to be in East Asheville in a strip mall but now is located in the heart of downtown. There is an upstairs bar and the restaurant is downstairs and I was positively claustrophobic sitting down there in that old building below ...

  • Not worth ANY amount of $$
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/27/07
Service was worst I have EVER seen in my entire life, and I travel frequently on business and must dine out a lot. Food was poorly prepared, and the dining area had a strange odor. When I asked to speak to the manager it took over 15 minutes for him to come to my table. Upon explaining that the service was horrible and the food left much to be ...

  • Fantastic Food
    By German, 04/10/07
My wife and I read about the restaurant online.
She had an vegetarian indian dish and I just had to try the german sampler. It was the best german food I have ever had in the US. It came really close to taste just like at home!
The server was very friendly, helpful and talkative. We enjoyed our dinner very much and cannot wait to come back.

  • WINE / FOOD LOVERS PARADISE!!!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/25/07
I have to say that my date and I were suprised to find this restaurant. It is located below their funky, chik and really busy bar / deli??? I thought it was a little strange too.....
Trust me when I say that it was a GREAT FIND! Multi-ethnic and European cuisines very well prepared. Quite inexpensive (our food bill was about $65 for two people - ...

  • threatened for payment of bad food
    By Chris, 02/13/07
i had a similar experience as some of the others here. my dish was so extremely under cooked that i could barely choke it down, (but i did). my girlfriends duck tasted like it had been microwaved, extremely dry and stringy. if you have ever had duck before you know it is usually very tender and moist. (she actually thought it was overcooked ...

  • A wonderful experience
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/24/07
My girlfriend and I discovered this resturant on accident and will always try to eat there whenever we are in Asheville. We were out for a special evening and wanted a quiet romantic place to dine. The dining area was divided and we sat on the left side which was made up of private booths with pillow lined backs. It couldn't have been more ...

  • WORLD-CLASS in such a small place!!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/27/06
When my wife and I found this interesting restaurant, we were delighted to see that there was such a broad selection of dishes ~ everything from Indian curry to filet mignon ). Being as we have lived in Europe as well as India we felt right at home! The foods were authentic, the service was attentive and the wine menu...HUGE and well priced!
