I always go to the Hertel Avenue area when I visit my hometown. Love Guy at his antique shop, love breakfast at Kosta's (porch seats in summer); Parkside Candy is a trip and a half--they still have old fashioned Soda Jerks (my Papa was one in the 30's) and if you're lucky enough to run into an estate sale, watch out-- discoveries beyond belief!

North Buffalo is one of the better parts of the city. Its commercial districts are filled
with shoppes, restaurants, and bars. North
Buffalo as a whole includes Riverside, Black
Rock, University Heights, Filmore Leroy, Kensington Bailey, Hertel, and Parkside areas. Some of its parks include Riverside,
    Delaware and McCarthy park.

Hertel avenue is pretty nice, especially if you like to shop for antiques. There are a lot of privately owned businesses (stores and restaurants). It is a nice place to take a quiet and relaxing walk.

In July, there is the Italian festival right on Hertel avenue. It is small, but worth going to.
