My husband & I took a walk through the park for the first time in Feb. 09 and thought it was a beautiful park with great paths and lots of scenery. The playground areas looked terrific for kids and I'll be taking my grandkids there next time they're here. For only $1/hr to park, it was a bargain. The only thing we would have liked to have had was a map of the park so we knew where to go and what all was there.

Lakes Regional Park was a great surprise when we first visited a few years ago. It's very cheap ($1 an hour to park!), well maintained, and has lots of interesting plant and animal life to observe. The trails for running/walking are paved and very well maintained. It makes for a very nice respite in the middle of a city that otherwise is one giant strip mall.

What Cost? An Awesome Park
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/01/07
Lakes like all Regional Parks in Lee County only charge a small parking fee, I believe it is $1 per hour or $5 for the ENTIRE day, what a deal!! They have also recently updated all of thier parking machines to except Credit Cards. You can also purchase a Annual Pass good for All Regional Parks and most of the boat ramps for $50, so I am not sure ...

Great place to have fun with children.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/13/07
Lakes park is a great place to take the family. They have bicycles for more than one person for rent. They also have a free water/sprinkler park for the kids. There is a small train that even adults can ride.

We had a great time. Long nature walk. Little train ride. Play area for the little ones. Worth the 3 dollar parking fee. We spent the day & can't wait to go back.

Pricey but worth it???
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/24/05
One member complained about the money. Could it possibly be that we're paying to clean up all the mess that people make. Like anything, I wish it could be free but honestly I know deep down why we have to pay. Who wants a trashy park? I've been to the park. Great atmosphere...great place to take the kids...a great peaceful relaxing area. One of the top parks in Southwest FL.

Great Family Fun!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/19/04
The miniature train ride through the forest is priceless for all ages. It brings back childhood memories and will do the same for our children as well. There are very few miniature trains like this left. The ride is a good 15 minutes and is decorated year round with special themes and times around the holidays. The hiking, playground, fountain park and water activities are also great family fun. A must do for families!

Lakes Park is one of Fort Myers last places to enjoy a peaceful day with the family or take a leisurely strole by yourself. To those Coming to visit It may be helpful to know that each day it seams another acre is gone. This is due to recent construction projects taking place. If anyone wishes to enjoy the beauty of this amazing Fort Myers wonder they better hurry.
