Chef Walter Hahn is a marvil. We remember him from his prior work at Roys at Spanish Bay and the Reno Hilton. He is a real asset to Casanova and the Monterey Pennsula.

We live in the midwest and visit Carmel three or four times a year. We never miss a meal at Casamova. While it is excellent in every respect, the ambiance trumps them all. The house wine by the glass is superb and for dessert have the chocolate nougatine.

Are you kidding me? Maybe if you were Madonna, Bill Murray, or Oprah, you might get treated like a human in this puffed up temple of arrogance. Otherwise forget it! The seating was so cramped I had to tell the waiter,in a menacing tone if he trod upon my wife's feet one more time we (He and I)were going to have a serious personal problem... ...

My husand and I had lunch there on Jan. 31, 2001. It was such a great place with the most wonderful atmosphere combined with the peaceful setting of Carmel. The food was a treat - just delicious. My husand passed away three months later and I will always recall our lunch there as one of my last precious memories of time spent with him. Thank you Casanova.

Dishes are very Euro. They all seem like Belgian/French derivations. Wine list is excelent, very little of that California over-rated over-priced nonsense -- mostly good, solid French and some Italians (as I recall).

Sit outside on the patio if it's nice. Very nice enclosed space, yet mostly open to the sky.

With reservations weeks in advance, our expectations were very high due to Yahoo Travel. Unfortunately, we were terribly disappointed. The restuarant was like a factory. The scallops & escargot were over cooked, the waiter was arrogant compounded by a non-negotiable $30 corkage fee for wine carried in. Take this one off the recommended list. ...
