We are big fans of cream teas and during our holidays had tired several. However, we had to sample one at Bettys Tea Rooms. Beautiful window and general surroundings, but what a let down on the actual food.......... never have we paid sooo much for sooo little.......... food. Felt very disappointed.

I'm not one to go to really nice restaurants. In fact, I cringe when my wife makes me go. I never to go. However, I thoroughly enjoyed Betty's. My wife, daughter, and I ordered many different dishes. We all tried a little of each. The food was fantastic. The price wasn't that bad either. Guys who are fuddy duddies like me must go. I enjoyed it. You will too

We called in at Little Betty's Tea Room on a rare day out to York.
My partner had been told to go to said tea room as it was "wonderful" with "lovely teas, coffees and cakes."
After a short wait for a seat, we were sat down in a quiet corner. Unfortunately on a hot June day, the lack of open window aided our ...
We were really looking forward to having our lunch in Betty's Tea Room in York, after a 15 minute queue - not too long a wait. My husband and I settled for the afternoon tea consisting of finger sandwiches, a scone and mini cakes and special blend tea for £14.95 each. The bread was not very fresh - quite dry actually and the scones were ...

Excelent Betty's
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/10/07
I have been to Betty's 4 times now all of which have been pleasant experiences. The food and service are excellent and whilst we like the fact that it is a mobile phone free atmosphere we feel that people with small children should have their own separate area as our last visit was spoilt by screaming children.

Poor lunch experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/23/07
We were in York and "had" to stop at Betty's for a light lunch: tea rooms in Yorkshire are mainly wonderful. We left very disappointed because of the service, food quality, and price. We waited a LONG time for the 2 salads and kid's grilled cheese. The salads were mediocre, lacked taste, and the greens seemed to have come out ...

Great place to eat!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/15/07
I would recommend Bettys every time for a great place to eat. I have dined at both York and Harrogate and both are faultless. They are very attentive to you during the service and make children feel very comfortable. The food menu is excellent ranging from Swiss Specialities to more traditional food such as Sausages and Mash!!
Don't be ...

We liked everything. Perhaps a bit pricey but worth it for the atmosphere and good old fashioned service. Overall very good. (very nice loos too!)
