With four back surgeries behind me, I wish they'd warn you at Chollar that you have to duck down at entry for many feet until you can stand upright again. Yes, my and partner's back were sore after. Honest.
Shasta Caverns at Lake Shasta is even deeper, steeper.

I really liked the guide on this tour. He was a (retired?) mining engineer and could answer questions in detail. In fact, he also has a good historical sense of the way the mines worked and the chronology of the whole place. I asked him where "Gold Canyon" was. Many people told me that it was just "Six Mile Canyon". But the tour ...

I have been there twice and am planning my 3rd trip with my husband and kids. It is a fun, short, tour. It is not a hard walk but it is only about 1/2 hour. The tour guides were able to answer all of our questions and were very good.

you know I took the tour in summer of 2006 and the guides knew a lot about the history of the mine...however its a long way underground and a great place to find out that the tour your on has te storey county fire dept. going along for the tour...I enjoyed but was the first one out...sunlight never looked so good...

I did this mine tour in the Summer of 2005. The tour was very good and very educational. The people who run the tour and very informed about the mine and history of the area.
