if your looking for for a great railroad please go to ely instead one they run steam on only one or two days when they say steam is all the time plus no yard tour aparently they say you are in the way but if you go to carson city just 3 miles away they even narrate it for you any way the ride was nice for scenery but the diesel spoiled it all so in my final words 2 stars

This is worth it in Virginia City. While the trip is rather short, you get a nice narrated tour and see a lot of mines. It takes less than one hour, you get to ride the original Virginia and Truckee route, and get views you wouldn't normally see from a car.
