The real Vegas

My wife and I have been to Las Vegas 23 times in the last 15 years and all but once we have stayed down town, The strip is OK but Down town is the best. Hotel rate are much lower everything is with in walking distance, and by all means spend a day on the strip, we take the city bus and then walk the strip for a day. It is always good to get back ...
The best I can say is that it's one of the few things that are free in Vegas. The sound system is just fair and the lights are just fair. It was cool to see the old casinos like the Golden Nugget though. All together, if you have some time to kill and ran out of money in the other casinos, go see Freemont. Otherwise it's not worth the trip.

What you think Vegas is

Freemont Street is everything you expect from Las Vegas. It's dirty, crowded, and smells like money. It was nice to see, we were leaving when the ceiling show started, but I felt unsafe alone and it was boring. Seeing a guy get arrested was the highlight of my experience.
I am from Las Vegas. The downtown Fremont Street Expierience is one of my favorite things to go see. The atmosphere of downtown is more realistic then the overpriced flassy strip. There have been several efforts to clean up and update the fremont street area in recent years and the show is a great addition. A short music montauge, and some lights. ...
You may quickly find yourself trying to go outside when you're in Vegas. This is the first place you should go. It kinda has a cheesy Vegas feel to it and it's not a bad thing. The light show is something you must see.
Going downtown is worth it just to eat a cheap steak dinner and seeing the different hotels. The lights in general in this area are really cool when the experience isnt going on. However, all of that is much cooler than the experience itself which is overrated and short in length. Its worth going down there for, just dont expect a ton from the light show. Go down to see the other hotels and you wont be dissappointed.

Fremont Street a Blast!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/15/06
My husband & I returned in late Aug. '06 from our first-ever trip to Vegas. We had planned to stay with a friend our first night, a Saturday. Instead we wound up at Main Street Sation. This place was AWESOME! The view wasn't that hot from our room, but we didn't plan to spend a lot of time in the room admiring the view anyhow! The ...
