I note some reviews report problems with waiting in lines, but in May 2007 (Wed 23rd early afternoon) I was able to get through security without waiting, get straight up to puchase a ticket, and be on a tram within 5 minutes of my arrival.
The trip is well worth it - my only tip is to note that some of your fare is for the National Park ...
The Arch was great. Early in the day before most of the tourist are up. Closer to closing time it gets busy. The cars to the top are alittle close but worth it.
My family of five really enjoyed our time at the arch. It is well kept, and nicely done. The museum, although dated, is still interesting. The "rangers" are MORE than helpful, and make the experience very nice. We went Saturday March 31, 2007.
TIPS: Buy your tickets online, including parking. (Be sure to mention that you have ...

IT WAS AN AWESOME ADVENTURE FOR ME AND SO MUCH TO SEE AMAZINGLY FUN AND FULL OF EXCITMENT AND THE SIZE OF IT WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO VISITING THERE AGAIN IN THE NEAR FUTURE, EVEN THO I AM FROM ST LOUIS I NEVER BEEN TO THE ARCH UNTIL RECENTLY
Overated. Takes too much time. No view! The museum and shops are the best part. The theater shows nothing anyone would want to see. The candy shop has delicious goods and treats to take back to your room. The hotel across the street from the arch is really nice though I recommend th Ritz-Carlton in Clayton.
I guess what do you really expect. Go up in a big arch and see a city that isn't that all pretty to look at. Skip paying 10 dollars to go in the arch and take some cool pictures under it and by it or from Cardinals Stadium.

How would we recognize St. Louis if not for the Gateway Arch? Gateway to the West! Has anyone truly spent the time that this great museum deserves? Would you go to Paris and not see the Eiffel Tower? New York and not see Lady Liberty? South Dakota and no Rushmore? Thank Tom Jefferson for buyin' all that land and thanks to Lewis & Clark for checkin' it out for us! Not a bad real estate deal!!

The Saint Louis is not only beautif but did you know...
You can ride all the way to the top where a wonderous view awaits. A must see when in the "Gateway To The West" Or in my case, to the East! I'll neve forget in 1965 moving here to Indiana from California seeing the Arch with the mid section still not assembled. It is great to see how it was done on television now lately. Blessy heart to all who make it possible. Saffernellie
