  • Unbelievably appalled and disgusted.
This cave is privately owned and overly commercialized. They do not care about the glorious treasures in the cave. Although they say "please don't touch the formations" they really don't care. Almost every one in the 35 person group touched a gigantic active stalagmite, when we told the guide, he didn't care and just ...

  • A very commercial Cave...
    By nikkithole, 07/11/09
It's a beautiful cave but too commercialized with different color lights. The tour guides memorize a script and although not challenged much by the tour, I don't think they are very knowledgeable about cave formations. They focus more on tv shows that have been filmed there rather than the history of the cave and what early settlers and ...

  • Great for a Day Trip
    By Julie, 03/06/08
I live about 3 hours south east of Stanton in Southern Illinois and my boyfriend and I went on a Saturday for his birthday. It was an amazing day full of activity and there was even a concert in the cave that night. We were able to leave at a reasonable time in the morning and get home before midnight. Great short getaway!

Good ol' Meramec Caverns. If you love Missouri's other well-known attraction, Branson, you'll enjoy this one, too. 'Homespun' is a good description. You can still find lots of souvenirs in their lobby that hark back to the days of Stuckey's and other Route 66 mainstays. Every October, they feature live gospel music in their ...

  • One Family's review.
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/24/07
The whole place is pretty relaxing. There are several other minor attractions to while away time. The guides are well informed. The place is very easy to get to. All in all, a very good trip. Definitely a kid friendly place. ...

  • a bit of a good suprise
    By M W, 05/31/07
We thought it would be a dud but it turned out to be very interesting and amazing. We also took the river boat cruise and it was quite relaxing and fun. They could update things a bit. The light show was really old fashion.

  • Great place to spend the day, week, or just a weekend!
    By Renee, 08/06/06
Great place for the whole family. Beatiful! Lots of activities. Reasonable cost. Located on historic route 66, there is a lot of history and beauty here. The legendary Jesse James hid out in the caves and even stayed nearby in his final days. Truly a must see! The kids really loved the lighting effects and the story telling along the tour. The ...
