  • Wholly Buckets
    By A Yahoo! Contributer, 06/24/08
This was my first time back to the KC Zoo in 10 years. I can still recall the old ape house and the sad state of affairs at the zoo. What a surprise! It has changed from the little zoo stuck in the 70's to a clean modern and excellent place to spend the day. The animals don't look sad anymore as the zoo spread them out and gave them some ...

  • KC's zoo
    By A Yahoo! Contributer, 05/25/08
My and wife and I have recently moved to the Kansas
City area. We enjoyed our time at the KC Zoo. Some of the exhibits (lions, leopard, kangaroos/wallabies, elephants, etc.) allow visitors to get very close to the animals so that they are easy to see. Previous reviewers have commented that the exhibits are very
spread out; We did a lot of ...

  • Very spread out
    By bearcatprof, 10/05/07
While it is good to have so much space for the larger animals, this zoo is much more spread out than any other I've visited and made for a very long day, as we had a handicap member of our party.

  • A Fantastic Zoo!
    By A Yahoo! Contributer, 07/24/07
The zoo was kept incredibly neat and clean. I loved how it really felt like you were walking through the actual countries that the animals are from as you tour the zoo. You can get very close to the animals and the exhibits are designed so naturally that the zoo has even taken steps to hide things like food dishes from the public viewing. The zoo ...

  • Next Time We'll go to Omaha...
    By A Yahoo! Contributer, 09/18/06
There were a few displays that were enjoyable, such as the Orangatan & Sea Lion exhibits. However, this zoo scores very low for layout and maintenance. You could spend the whole day here, and see a handful of animals, and some, such as a beautiful White Tiger, were stuck in such a small cage it was just pathetic. I have been to many zoos, ...

  • August is too HOT
    By A Yahoo! Contributer, 08/15/06
Not enough places for cooling off in the hot August sun. The motorized vehicles (tram, train, boat, could be organized to provide better views of animals) It takes too long to walk from the entrance before you even see an animal! Some of the cages are quite small for the size of the animals. However, I believe that the Asia section is being ...

  • A lot of walking!!!
    By A Yahoo! Contributer, 07/31/06
My husband and I just took our daughter this past weekend for the first time. We are from Omaha and are used to the Henry Doorly Zoo, so this was a major dissapointment.

There is way too much walking and it takes forever to get to an exhibit. I think the things we enjoyed the most were Zooville, the reptile show, feeding the deer and the ...

  • A Beautiful Zoo
    By A Yahoo! Contributer, 07/02/06
This is one of the cleanest zoos I've ever visited. Small cascades and waterfalls run throughout the entire zoo. It's really a nice place to bring the children. Only sour note about this place is everything is spaced so far apart. Kansas City is a place with many hills & climbing these small mountains can be quite exhausting when trying to entertain children. On a windy day this would be great stop on a family vacation.

  • I love walking and zoos
    By JC V, 05/01/06
I've been to 15 of the best zoos in the country. Nearly ever major zoo this side of the Mississippi. San Diego, Omaha, San Francisco, St. Louis, Monterey Aquarium and many more. This may be the best zoo in the country for me. I love walking and I love a great zoo. If you don't like walking this zoo is decent and you will not be able to ...
