1960's- in 2nd-4th grade, living in Detroit-what a time it was! (riots, civil rights issues, motown was huge, vietnam...) My girlfriend's mom took us there many times to get books. We took a classes on Oragami, Watercolors, & made clothespin dolls! A beautiful iconic library with lots of history and activities - even now! We lived in the Green Acres area-and I was a minority white girl :) Detroit was profound and fun memory.
I like the Main detroit public library when I'm in the are to just view books, and maybe news paper. But I found they need a technology boast. They computer room is very small-only fitting 15 people. So I had to wait to search for a book online. The library downtown Detroit is your best bet. With modern computer on both floors and an more contemporary and updated look.
