I did the Freedom Trail last March (2009). I loved it. You can take a tour and be lead around by a revolutionary tour guide who takes you through Boston Commons and up to the state house. My friend and I went without a tour guide and were able to go at our own pace. We used my tour guide book and walked all the way to Bunker Hill. It takes at least ...

Great history lesson!

We booked a walking tour on line. (Received a discount) You can also walk-up and purchase tickets. Our guide was dressed in his traditional colonial clothes. Very informative. A lot of humor mixed into the history lesson. Wear comfortable shoes. We also did the Trolley Tour. We saw a lot of the sames things, just without the details that we got with the walking tour. The Walking Tours are a better value.

Make sure to take a tour
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/01/08
What a great tour. I went with a young man named Ebenezer Macintosh. He was very knowledgeable and incredibly enthusiastic. I've never seen someone put so much energy into history.
I cannot recommend the Freedom Trail Foundation tours enough.

Worth the walk!

It was fun to walk the trail and see the historical sites. I would highly recommend it to others. It is pretty much a free activity (except small admission fees, under $5 mostly, to some attractions).
