This is my absolute favorite part of New Orleans. The beignets are amazing. Hot and messy! Don't expect to leave this place clean. The place is a mess and the servers are a little crazy, but its right in the middle of the french quarter and has nonstop business. What do you expect? Its all part of the french quarter atmosphere. I believe the ...
Good treats but dirty and smelly. Read on if you want details...
I stumbled upon Cafe Du Monde as I was in town for work. There was a musical group playing outside on the patio and I thought it would be a good idea to relax my tourism weary feet, and have a cup of coffee before I headed back to my hotel for the night. I walked on the patio where ...
Every person was or in New Orleans will tell you don't miss going to Cafe Du Monde. Order Cafe au lait and beignets. You won't miss it when you stroll around the french market. Two thing you need to be aware of: - Bring cash, credit cards are not accepted. - Don't wear dark color clothes... you will be topped with mountains of powder sugar

Great Value, Great Stuff

The beignets were amazing, and were far superior to the everyday American doughnuts. The fresh squeezed orange juice was also great. Everything was very reasonably price, especially the orange juice.

Don't wear black
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/20/07
I you are wearing black while at Cafe Du Mond then make sure you have a lot of napkins because you will want to get powdered sugar all over yourself after the first bite. They are incredible and I love eating every time I im the area. A cheap and easy breakfast.
I go here every day of every trip. The coffee is great and the Beniets (sp?) are yummy. Even if you are just getting the coffee it is always fun to watch young kids take their first bite into the beniets without knowing they should shake off the powder sugar before hand. It is just really relaxed and usually there is a street musician nearby that makes the experiance that much more authentic of the cities history.
Famous New Orleans hangout. The pluses: + delicious beignets and coffee. (Beignets are a French donut thingy.) + Good corner location for people watching + Inexpensive The minuses: - Menu is very limited. It's basically beignets and coffee or soda. - Service is kind of confusing. It seems like it should be be counter service, but ...
