There's nothing to dislike at Art Institute. If you don't have money and/or time to go visit Paris' Louvre, then here it is a great museum on this continent.

Could Spend Whole Day Here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/26/05
There is so much to see here that you really could spend the whole day. The ever-changing featured exhibits make this museum new everytime you go, while old standbys like Sue are always nice to return to see.

Best museum in Chicago
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/26/05
Not only does the Art Institute of Chicago have an unbelievable collection of art that spans all times, all styles, and all continents, it also has an excellent (and affordable) restaurant downstairs. Be sure to check out the day's lectures, gallery talks, and special exhibitions when you enter the museum. (fliers are at the central information station)
Tuesday is free admission day. A great day to take the kids. Entertaining and educational. Plus, a great gift shop with sales on items that are on display. Also, reasonably priced.

Excellent - a landmark
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/26/05
The Art Institite of Chicago is a must see. It has something for everyone. It is number one in all art museums this side of Paris!
The Art Institute is an ever-changing atmosphere. You just can't visit enough - there are always new exhibits and shows. On a second or third viewing, you'll discover nuances and subtleties of a piece of art that you didn't uncover the first time. You can spend an hour and visit a small portion of the museum, or you can spend a day and attempt to take it all in.
Beuatiful artwork. Great displays. Lots of space. Something for everyone. Reasonable pricing. Free on Tuesdays. It was an amazing experience being so close to so many pieces of fine artwork and so many classics , like "American Gothic" by Grant Wood.
The Chagall windows are amazing - full of vibrant color. The Expressionists and other 19th century paintings are great too. The cafeteria is even great!
Not too overwhelming. Different impressionists were represented well. Greatly organized and the flow of the visitors went well. Pieces of art were well picked and represented the artist well.
