My husband and I took our granddaughter, age 2. We went at Christmas time 2008, when the museum USED to be at it's best with it's Christmas trees. The trees were a disgrace...looked like they were just pulled out year after year with no upkeep. It didn't look like a museum of any kind. "Displays" were few just put here and ...
This was the most beautiful Science Museum my family has ever traveled to. We came from Frankfurt, Germany, and Chicago is truly a beautifully pleasant city! We fell in love with Chicago!
Normally I am an extremely optomistic person, and enjoy machinery and science more that the average person. However this January 3, 2009 trip was horrible.
The museum is geared towards a 10 year old, no adult activities at all. The science content is not interesting.
We tried to make a toy at the toymaker display that costs $5, but the ...
Dislike: too many pictures and not enough exhibits; exhibits are simplified to children's level; expensive; the same knowledge could have been gained in a trip to your local library and a brief stop at your local Spencer's (cheap, gimicky lighting toys)
Like: beautiful building (but still cluttered with childish crap); wonderful if you have kids
This was an amazing experience! A combination of the hands-on activities for the kids and pretty neat facts for the adults and everything in between made it one of the best museum trips I had in my life! A must-see for Chicago visitors!

I totally like this museum. It's educational trip to people at all age. The public transport is available, ,multiple topics for all age, cafeteria with variety of food choice within reasonable price range. It is the must to see place for 1st timer at Chicago.
Allow enough time to see this place !!! You could spend the entire day here. The displays are awesome. There are eating facilities on the premesis, so there's no reason to leave.
