Is it unusual to have so many homeless in waikiki?
wow.. I was pretty disappointed to see so many homeless folks wandering around Kapiolani park near Waikiki beach - not safe at all and quite a filthy experience. I'm not sure I'll return if this has become the norm, especially given the amount of $$ you have to drop to stay in Waikiki

Homeless what????
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/07/09
I was disappointed that there was a review on the homeless in Honolulu. We stayed at the Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel--right across from waikiki beach. I was not affected by the homeless at all. As a matter of fact, the most of the bums slept by the police station. I believe that the police do their best in rounding up the bums and keep them near ...
Waikiki has got to be the greatest beach town in the world. Everything is at your door. The beach, shopping, tours, restaurants. Why would anyone go anywhere else?

beware of homeless in waikiki
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/18/09
Waikiki has changed quite a bit since my last visit - the homeless wonder around the streets fronting the beach and are living in nearby parks. How can the Hawaii government allow this to happen? I didn't feel safe taking a stroll along kalakaua avenue and in kapiolani park in the evening. During the day, I saw the homeless do things that my ...

5 times and I still want more.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/28/09
I'm sure my friends think I'm crazy (except for one or two that are as equally obsessed with the islands as I am) but I can't get enough of the Hawaiian islands. I've remember my first trip with my family about 10 years ago, which was a last minute change to our travel plans and from the moment I stepped onto HNL's Wikiwiki ...
I was stationed in Oahu for over 3 years and recently had to come back home to Houston. I loved the place, never a dull day, never an ugly day, even in bad weather I was awed at the beauty of the island. The weather is pretty much year round average in the 80s, and from mid December to mid January it gets really rainy and windy. If you want to ...
We go every year to Hawaii and for the last five years we have been going to the best beach rental service that we have found along the long stretch of beach. Prime Time Sports they are located on Fort Derussy beach where the military hotel is “Hale Koa” right between the Waikiki Shores and the Hilton Hawaiian Village. They have all ...

Loved Waikiki !!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/14/08
We just got back from a week in Hawaii. We decided to save some money by staying in a Honolulu hotel. Walking to the beach took less than 10 minutes and we saved around $400 avg. Waikiki beach was everything advertised, especially the crowds. Loved the scenery especially the view of a volcano (Diamond head) right beside the beach. The water was ...
We've been to Hawaii four times (usually 6 day visits) since 1992 I think. Its too much to see and do on the island to be spending too much time in Waikiki beach. 1st timers will wanna visit there as soon as they arrive. Make a day out of it. Afterwards you can take your time and enjoy the rest of the island. Waikiki is not as crowded as some ...
