Waikiki isn't even the nicest beach on the island, not to mention the world! Have you tried the 40 minute drive to the North Shore? How about the Windward side? A lot less crowded, a lot less "city." Beaches are a lot more beautiful without the hotel backdrops! No contest!
Beach feels like you're lying on a parking lot with some sand thrown on top...too many people...and too much coral prevents a good swimming experience. I recommend either Sandy Beach which is just past Diamond Head (next to blowhole) or Lanaiki Beach...both are accessible by the BUS system.

Just mind blowing

The water is super clear, the waves are nice and is one of the best beaches that I have been to in the world.
Also, the view with hotels in the background and then clear open ocean is just excellent

The place is great. It's FULL of people so no polace to really play around.... I call it towel to towel tanning... Great to meet new people but not so much if you wanna be alone....
Water is good but kinda "dirty" to many people... Well if you wanna go play go there....

The most beautiful place on Earth
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/26/05
Imagine Waikiki with no people around. Would you think you were in Eden. People say Oahu is too touristy, but its still one of the nicest places on the planet. Nothing better than sipping a Mai-Tai watching the sunset in Hawaii.
I love Wakiki Beach .Stayed at the Northshore Hotel across from the beach and it was the most pleasant experience I had in my whole life!!! They had movies and concerts on the beach on certain nights. Also it is very relaxing at night because every one goes out and sit on the benches at the beach and watch the sunset , which sets different from california, the suns sets horzontially to the left. Its beautiful
I staying in the Hilton Hawaiian Village during off season in October and the weather was great water was awesome looking just once people got coming out the water got murky i suggest if you go to check out the North beachs much nicer and worth the drive
