  • a million people on a strip of sand
    By Carrie Sherrick, 04/09/07
If your idea of a tropical vacation is laying towel to towel with millions of people while kids run by and kick sand on you then this is your place. I on the other hand was extremely jaded when I got there. The road is only a couple hundred feet behind you and you are laying on a strip of sand. The water was beautiful but I would definately skip ...

  • Waikiki beach fun
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/21/07
This beach is so great. We went in March and it wasn't as crowded as we thought. The water was just right behind the wall which allows calmer conditions for easy wading. The other side offers enough waves for boogieboarding. The area was clean and well kept. Would definately come back again.

  • So beautiful it's a sin...
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/20/07
The views are utterly captivating. We discovered the ShoreBird and had our Mai Tai's right by the shore. I love it there. The water is stunning, the people and atmosphere is amazing. Absolutely worth the trip, and not too pricey.

  • Go to Maui instead.
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/26/07
Waikiki was like being in Vegas, if Vegas was a third world country. If I had paid to go there I would have been angry.

There are hundreds of places better in the Hawaiian Islands not to mention here in the states. Too many people, too much like any cruiseship town.

  • The Beach
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/13/07
The best part about the water on this beach was the fact that I could go underwater and open my eyes without being stung by the salt. The water's clarity surpassed that of most swimming pools. The people were extemely friendly and ready to offer advice on the best places to visit and eat. We loved every moment we spent on this exotic island, and were filled with remorse when we had to leave.

  • We live here, and go surfing there.
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/30/07
You have to paddle out past the break but this is by far the best beach to learn how to surf. There is a reason it was the favorite of Ali'i going back to forever.
Yes, there are too many people on the beach, but there are too many people pretty much everywhere now, right?
Before the whole beach is sumberged by global warming, enjoy it while it's here. To those who grumble, I hope your back yard is as lovely. God Bless.

  • Great fun!!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/16/07
My wife and I went to Hawaii on our honeymoon. We spent a few nights on Oahu, and the rest on Maui. We wound up at this beach just in time for high tide. My wife and I had so much fun body surfing. This is no exageration the waves literally carried me up shore 20 feet! You should try to go there during high tide it made things that much more ...

  • Great People Watching Beach
    By BigVince, 01/15/07
If you're looking for peace and quiet, you should know right from the start, you really won't find it at Waikiki. Although, I have enjoyed nice sunset walks along the beach with my wife, there are plenty of other people there most of the time. That being said, this is a wonderful beach full of all kinds of activities. This is not a good ...

  • Waikiki was a great vacation spot.
    By Robyn, 11/21/06
Me and my mother travel to one of the Hawaiian islands each year. I really enjoyed Waikiki beach the most. Been there twice and plan on one more trip this summer. We stayed at the Aloha Surf Hotel..it was ok, cheap, no breakfast (well a bagel and juice came to your doorstep) but it served its purpose. My boyfriend and nephew Sean went with me & ...
