Waikiki beach is absolutely fantastic. My wife and I have visited many times. The locals are tolerent of us tourists. It is safe and well patrolled by the police. There is constant improvement to the beach area which is a good thing. Prices are no different than any other tourist mecca. Evening strolls along the Ave are pleasant. Buskers are ...

Disappointing
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/29/08
We were excited about going and were very disppointed with the atmosphere in our two visits. It is like Miami on the Pacific - high rise hotels and lots of traffic noise. Also, overridden with tourists, especially young Japanese. The beach area is very small in front of the hotels compared to other beaches we have been to. We probably will skip Honolulu & Waikiki on our next visit. The other islands are much more relaxing and prettier.

My three favorite cities in the US are NYC, Las Vegas and Honolulu. If you like NYC, Las Vegas, you will love Waikiki, it's as simple as that. Waikiki has the best food in all of Hawaii. The beach itself has to be one of the finest I have ever been to. It is safe for families, has plenty of day and night activities. Water sports, and Don Ho ...
We spent Christmas on the beach & it was amazing. Someone had set up a Christmas tree, decoration & presents included. He was dressed in his trunks & Santa hat passing out candy canes to all!! What a ball we had on our vacation!!

Sure Waikiki is overcrowded, but only because it fully deserves the reputation as a vacation haven. Waikiki beach and the neighboring strip of beaches has just about everything you need for a nice holiday. You can rent surf boards and hit up some of the best waves for beginners, head out into the surf on a canoe or catamaran, snorkel, catch a ...

Entertaining family/friends
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/02/07
I made reservations at Beach House when I learned family and friends were coming to O'ahu. I spoke with David, the manager who personally gave the party of six an excellent spot. We watched surfers and swimmers and saw the sun go down. We were there over two hours and never felt hurried by staff. David checked on us and we took our picture with him. Our guest said it was the best experience they had of their visit to all the islands.
The crowds flock to Waikiki Beach to enjoy snorkeling, surfing, water activities and just to hang out. There are many refreshment areas, restaurants and shops at the plethora of hotels lining the beach.
If you're looking to join the crowds, this is the place. The nightlife is kickin' here too. The music energizes the air from the ...
