Super soft sand, finer than the North Shore. Go on the weekday to avoid the crowds and to find parking in this residential area. No showers but you can wash up after at Kailua beach. Watch out the sand can get hot and the sun brutal, the lighter sand reflects the rays back at you. Make sure you get a cool shave ice later at Island Snow, it's right up the road across Kalapawai market. That caps off a perfect day at the beach.

Truly the best beach
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/21/07
This is our family's favorite beach, hands down. Our girls (3 and 5) love it because the waves are usually much gentler than at nearby Kailua Beach--but still offer enough roll to boogie board on.
It is never crowded and who doesn't love looking at the Mokuluas? Be sure to try and catch the sun rising between the 2 islands or the moon. ...

Lanikai Beach

It's sad to see all the sand has disappeared due to sea walls. It's also sad to see people abusing the beach and using it like an ashtray. Better enjoy it while you can before the whole darn beach disappears.

Great Place to Propose!

What a beautiful and romantic beach. I proposed to my wife here on a 2002 trip. Beatiful sand and water, very quiet, and the view of the two islands in the background was wonderful!
this is the best place to go. if you want a peaceful and relaxing place to go, i recommend lanikai beach. there are fewer crowds, soft sand, not rocky like lanikai beach, and many more. when you go to lanikai beach, you can go kayaking to a small island called molukai. there you can swim a little. also, from the lanikai beach you can see another ...

Picturesque Lanikai
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/20/05
Lanikai is absolutley beatiful. Stayed at a beach rental on Lanikai and I was fortunate enough to be awaken by the most beautiful sunset. Lanikai is a small, quiet and clean beach, better than Kailua in my opinion. Kayaking and snorkeling are some of the activites you can do there, but the most rewarding one is relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere of Lanikai.
