We were very tired at the end of a long day and decided to make this a last minute stop. This peaceful temple was the highlight of the day! I could have spent hours there. What a serene way to end or to begin a day. It was also a great value with reasonable prices in the gift shop.
One of my favorites in Oahu. Definitley a hiden spot that not many know about. I'm so glad we took the time to visit it. We went after a day at the Sea Life Park and it was the perfect ending to that evening. We went about an hour before it was closed. We were the only ones there and that made it even more special. I still look at the pictures I took and I still can't belive I was there.
Absolutely took my breath away at every turn. I could have stayed all day! I would highly recommend going here. The admission fee was minimal and so worth it. Make sure you take your camera with you and explore the grounds a little.
I went with my husband last year. This year I am taking my mom and my daughter.
The temple and its grounds are worth seeing but somewhat isolated. I have been there only once during the three times I acationed on Oahu. My visit is vivid in my memory but I probably will not return there.
I loved this little stop we made after visiting the Pali lookout. It cost $2 to get in and it wasn't crowded so we got a lot of photo ops. It's worth it to buy food to feed the koi and take your shoes off to go inside the temple to light some incense. It was relaxing and a peaceful place to recenter yourself after being in Waikiki for four days!
Great place. This is a must see on any visit to HI.very friendly prople.Very pretty grounds.relaxind to the max.price is great.nice gift shop/great great great great
Both Mr. & Mrs. Wantanabe from Japan played music and sang beautifully. Mrs. Wantanabe is studying hula and performed during this time. A great addition to the temple ambiance.

Great place for a couple of photo ops! Ring the Bell and make a wish. Byodo-In is located at the end of The Valley of temples and is a beautiful structure. Time spent 30-45 minutes.

One of my favorite spots on Oahu!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/22/05
The Byodo-In Temple is one of my favorite places to visit on Oahu. The magnificience of the structure and serenity in the air automatically transport you away from the feeling of being at a "tourist stop". The Bon-Sho (or Sacred Bell), when rang, has a very calming tone and is said to cleanse the mind of all evil temptation through its ...
