ITS A GREAT PLACE TO TAKE TIME OUT OF THE DAY. GREAT SIGHT SEEING, AND THE TRIP THERE ALLOWES YOU TO SEE THE OCEAN. IF YOU COME AT THE RIGHT TIME, YOU CAN SEE THE HUMPBACKS PASS BY... BE SURE TO STOP AT TEDDY'S FOR THE BEST CHEESE FRIES ON OAHU!!
the only thing i found hard was the wind. the scenery was utterly fantastic. went to hawaii to bring my son for the 65th anniv. of pearl harbor - my father was a survivor but never got to meet my boy. it was also my sons 21st bday while we were there. he is now a marine and may get stationed there!!

Nice view...but a long climb!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/06/07
The view from the top of Diamond Head is very nice (although the viewing tower is small and congested), but you have to work to see it! Sturdy walking shoes are a must, and a small flashlight is really handy for all the tunnels you'll pass through. Be sure to bring water and a camera! There are restroom facilities at the bottom and snack vendors near the parking lot.
I completely recommend this hike. I agree with most of the sites that say that this is an easy to moderate hike. Remember to wear good walking shoes, bring plenty of water, a hat/sunglasses and a camera. You are able to park at the bottom of the hike, which will save you some extra walking. It is $5 to park or $1 per person to walk into the ...

Don't miss it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/11/07
I did this hike on a trip with my company. I am a larger woman and was quite concerned about the hike at my weight. I perservered, set my own pace, lots of water and made it to the top. Got to the bottom and bought the Tshirt! I had people ask me if I did the hike or just bought the shirt! They are more fit than I and they didn't make it to the top. I'm glad I stretched myself. The view from the top is fabulous!

The breeze blowing at the top was refreshing, though. If you're not in halfway decent shape, this will be difficult for you. The rocks are uneven and the staircases ...

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/09/07
While visiting in June with my family, I needed something to keep the kids busy while my husband worked. I got the idea to take my 10, 8, and 5 year old to the Monument. How hard could it be? Well to our suprise the hardest thing about the climb to the top was the complaining of my kids asking "what are we going to do up there?" Once we ...
