Not for Kids
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/21/07
I am a kid. This place is not for kids. You can't see any fish. To see fish you had to swim far. I could not swim out far.

Warning! You will not see any fish by just wading int he water. You will need to swim out and snorkel. If you have small children they will be very disappointed at the lack of sea life they can see.
20 years ago Hanauma bay was a fun place to visit, but not now. It's been turned into a museum and the staff is there to make sure you don't touch or do anything.
Not worth the time spent waiting in line nor the admission price.

Wonderful!!!
By reyoho1, 08/08/07
It was wonderful! Even on a cloudy day when it was somewhat chilly! Be sure to get there early as it gets crowded very fast. But the water and fish are exceptional! The best snorkeling I've ever done!

Lots of fish!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/06/07
This was a nice place to learn to snorkel. Once you get there (it's a bit of a drive from Waikiki) you must watch a short video on the do's and don'ts of the preserve. It is quite crowded by late morning, but it is a large bay. The snorkeling is great, but might be a bit choppy for really small kids, depending on the weather. Tons ...

This is a great place and I will go back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/04/07
It is a fantastic, clean beach. You really feel like you are farther out in the ocean than you are. We went last May of 06 without our children and kept saying how much we want to take them... so we will be back in Hawaii in 10 days with the kids and this will be one of the first places we go.

Good Snorkeling
By Lance R, 07/30/07
Take the family here and have a good time Snorkeling. A mandatory movie is worth it and nominal fees to enter the park. Bring some Snorkeling equipment to avoid having to rent it . Snorkeling is great here with all the Tropical fish.

hanauma bay...go early!
By p nog, 07/29/07
definitely go early. the park opens at 6:30 am. hawaiians are notorious for being on "hawaiian time" ( we get there when we get there ), so, they ask for $5 donation at the window but if you beat the ticket taker to work, you get to go in for free! also by 10:30 am, the line is wrapping around the building and the water is so cloudy ...

My Son would love it!
By Dar, 07/11/07
I have fond memories of this beautiful beach on Oahu. This was my first beach growing up that I actually fed the fishes. I was attending Kamehameha School for the Hawaiian Exploration during one summer. It is safe and very protected by the harsh waves. I can't wait to take my boy to experience what I have.

What a disappointment!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/19/07
Returning after 15 years to experience what we enjoyed years ago became a major disappointment. 15 years ago the fish came to you...anyone could be standing a foot from the shore and would enjoy seeing massive schools of fish...now I have to go looking for them and barely found any...15 years ago everything was free and saw 100 times more than ...
