My husband and I honeymooned in Tybee in October and it was our first time there. Everything was wonderful! The marine science center was great. It never claimed to be a main event. It is a community center to educate people about the local beaches and wild life. Maybe if people would slow down and take time to read the signs and enjoy the animals, ...
If you're on Tybee Island you must go here, if only for the "very Tybee" guided tour. It would be great for kids, but as two adults, we loved it!

we have fish tanks at home!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/08/08
there were fish tanks in two rooms.we wasted $14.00 on 2 adults and 2 children just to see some fish tanks my husband asked if that was it the lady said yes,we will stay home and watch our fish tank.we were out of there in no more then 10 minutes that includes the time to talk to the lady after we looked around more we thought we missed some rooms or something
Do not waste your time or money on this one. Took us all of 10 minutes to go through here and 5 were spent in the souvenir shop. Wait til you get home and go to your local pet store. Same effect will be generated.

Some good things.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/11/08
The Marine Science Center was nice for a drop in. If you are going out of your way to do it I wouldn't. It had some nice aspects to it. There were about five small rooms of sea creatures and large, average gift shop. Overall it was a nice place to just drop in and see.

Good for scouts
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/15/07
We scheduled a scout activity with the center. It was very informative. We walked in the marshes and along the beach while our guide explained different scientific aspects of Tybee Island. The center itself was not that impressive(if you are expecting a big aquarium, don't) but the tour was great and the kids really enjoyed it. It was one of their favorite parts of the trip and we did a lot of things while we were down there.

Not Exciting
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/06/05
We were not impressed with the Tybee Island Marine Science Center. Although we are in our early 30's, we do enjoy the hands on aspect of museums of this type. However, I felt this one was pretty skimpy.
Maybe it's great for children, who are easier to impress.

Hands on

Great for kids because of the hands on aspect. Would have been nice if there was a place to wash our hands.
