Expecting to spend 15 minutes - we were still walking around this beautiful place 2 hours later. We have revisitied Bonaventure and shared the experience with other traveling friends. A MUST for anyone visiting this beautiful city.
You defiantly want to see this place, bring a camera because no one will believe how beautiful this place is. I feel one of the best times to go is spring/fall near dusk when the sun is lays extra colors through the trees.
This really is a neat cementary! I used to go over here somtimes during the Haloween time and visit. Some of the kids would tell stories and it was really a neat place to visit. Sounds creepy but really is very intersting to explore this old place. Statues galore. Many old graves.
This has to be the most beautiful cemetary that I have been to. I could have looked around for hours. Lots of foliage, beautiful oak trees with spanish moss. It is a must see.
Kind of a gloomy place to visit for sightseeing. However, if you love history, you will enjoy visiting Bonaventure Cemetery. There are other cemetaries as well to see. However, Bonaventure Cemetery is the best by far for historic value.
Great place, get good directions or take a trolly. Great shaded areas, bring water, lots of water. See little Gracie, or Johnny. Strolly friendly in most spots.
I loved the riverfront. It was so breathtaking. We walked right on the rocks by the water and watched sail boats go by. I loved how elaborate the tombs and gravesites were. There were sculptures and steps and benches and flowers and bushes. Too much to name.
My daughter who lives in Savannah brought me here ... this is the soul of the South....peace, tranquillity, reverence... and awe... abide here. I hope to return many times. You must visit!!
Me and my sister went here right after she moved to savannah. This place is amazing. I totally recommend to anyone who is interested in the history and culture of the south. And the best part is it's Free!!
When we need to slow down and ponder we drive to Boneveture. Always part of our plans when we visit Savannah. We pick up a picnic basket and spend a peaceful afternoon.
