First of all, I was delighted to see that there was no coast to see anything. Everthing now in the United States has a COST. To see all the artifacts about Dr. King and all the rough times that he went through durning that time period. And As a person of Color myself, I know that he was doing that all alone.... Just to be in Atlanta where U ...
MY WIFE AND I JUST LEFT ATLANTA 10/06/06. ONE OF OUR FIRST STOPS BY CITY BUS,WAS THE "SWEET AUBURN" AREA. IT HAS SO MUCH HISTORY, THAT IT MAKES TEARS COME TO YOUR EYES. WE ARE BOTH IN OUT MID FIFTIES, AND CAN REMEMBER LIKE YESTERDAY, IN WHEN DR KING WAS KILLED. WE BOTH RESIDE IN OHIO, BUT PUT THAT ON OUR ...
I did my own freedom walk from the city to the memorial. I found it very moving and very serene, the gift shop has some great items on the civil rights movement too. Worth a look if you are there in Atlanta.

My first trip to the center was 6/30/06 with my church youth group. It was AWSOME! I was so moved. We did not get a chance to see everything, so my family and I are planning a family trip in August. I can't wait! I was able to tour the King room, the Rosa Parks room, and the Ghandi Room awsome! I was also able to tour the church. That ...
Something we all should see, the birth house, place Doc. King played as kids... it great for everyone, i took my mom and 3 brothers and little sister they all had a lot of funn and learn a lot about history
I thought it was great. The first time i went i was little and i was w/ my family for our family reunion. We were doing a WALKING tour of the area and as a lil kid i got impatient. Last time i went was 7 months ago. I thought it was excellnt. I took pictures of the things Dr King actually used that were in the display cases. I felt honored 2 b ...
Very peaceful beautiful garden surrounding Mrs King's Tomb. The museum section was very informative Nice gift shop attached. Very easy to find Dr King's home and Ebenezer Baptist church as all are in walking distance. HOWEVER if you go on a busy day expect parking to be tight
The MLK Historic Site is definately something that the whole family will enjoy. To recap the history in the African-American Community is important for all people, and the MLK Historic Site shows both the negative and possitive views of history during the time of segregation. So, if you ever decide to visit the City of Atlanta, GA, please take about 3 hours out to view the site in its entirety.

I thought the different groups of history was well laid out. There is a lot of reading, however I preferred the pictures and the different articles. A good history lesson for all races.

I found that this site fell far short of the hype regarding it. It was more interested in presenting a legend than a factual history. Recommend visiting some of the other area historic sites instead.
