we happened upon this place and decided to give it a try last sunday night. in spite of a great view, the place is dirty and the service was slow. 2 of us had the 1 lb crab leg dinner, which didn't taste very good, and we were both sick the next day. wine list was small, but a good mix. maybe it was an off night, but i would suggest walking up to christophers, its a block away and a more enjoyable experience even with the slow service.

My husband and I went to the Mad Crab and we really enjoyed the food and the service. The place was very clean. The food portions were perfect. We will make that our regular place to eat when we are in the area. Great place!

Last June, my family and I took a ferry from Port Townsend to Whidbey Island. An employee on the ferry recommended the Mad Crab.
When we walked in that Sunday evening, they were winding down from a big weekend. They treated us very well, when I am sure they were looking forward to calling it quits for the night. We were the last customers to ...

Went there when the cooks had the Kitchen in order. Food was great. Service was great. and we were smitten to come back again. Our stop for dinner after 275 miles of driving....and a new land purchase on Whidbey. We wanted to celebrate... Then came the second visit with identical items ordered from same menu and they bombed us like Seagulls ...

I love the Mad Crab. They have the best margaritas and the best fish and chips in the state of Washington. They also have great salads and a fabulous view of Penn Cove.

Heard good things about the blackened halibut, only to find it no longer on the menu, we were one of 2 tables and service was slow, took five minutes before a waitress even approached, brought us some bland bread straight from a bag, water glasses were dirty, my wifes wine glass had a big smear of something on it, there was big spots of catsup on the window over looking the water, very shabby. Food was mediocre at best... First and last visit!
On a clear day there is a perfect view of Mount Baker. Local Penn Cove Mussels are steamed to perfection. Order a salad with fresh crab or a warm sandwich its all delicious.
My husband and I usually stop at Toby's when we are in Coupeville. This time we decided to try something new ~ the Mad Crab. I can't wait to go again.I ordered a warm seafood salad with mussels, clams, shrimp and fish served over romaine lettuce with a very light dressing. It was delicious. They were not skimpy on the mussels or clams and ...
