My family just recently moved from Atlanta and we tried Speak EZs BBQ for the first time. We were sort of anxious, coming from BBQ country, not knowing what to expect here in NW. The servers were very nice and helpful, and made us welcome right from the start. We ordered Okra as starter and the recommended dinner smoked plate. The food surpassed ...

I absolutely LOVED Speak EZ's! I had always passed it on Meridian and I finally went in to try it out. I am originally from New Orleans, so I have had my fair share of Creole and BBQ meals. This was the closest thing I have had since. I was with three friends so we all got different plates to share. I had the pulled pork... FANTASTIC! But ...

Worst. BBQ. Ever.
Having never been, a few days ago I decided to try Speak EZ BBQ. Went there for lunch and ordered a sampler plate with ribs and brisket for $12.99. Seemed steep for lunch, but I figured that I'd get a half rack of ribs, some big slices of brisket and some sides.

I'm a lover of all things smoked and barbecued so obviously I was excited when word spread of the impending opening of a dedicated BBQ restaurant. I went in for lunch and was really disappointed. I received a so-so BBQ pulled-pork sandwich - the sauce couldn't even save it. I remember the beans were the highlight of the meal but the only other thing I remember was thinking, never again. Oh well.

Speak E-Z's is a neighborhood restaurant which specializes in authentic Southern Soulfood and BBQ. Beer and wine offered compliments the menu where besides BBQ ribs, pulled pork and brisket a variety of items are offered. The seafood gumbo is a great starter for dinner. Try the hush puppies, collard greens, or roasted garlic mashed potatoes. Ask for a doggie bag to leave room for pecan or sweet potato pie.
