  • Had a great time!
    By Mario, 12/09/09
I did not really know what to expect, so it was an exploratory excursion. I have never been on a ship of this size. It looked old, but it was clean.
Embarking was smooth, the crew was very friendly and helpful, the cabin was small but very clean, breakfast buffet was very nice. The view from the top decks were breath taking. The sea was very rough ...

  • Buyer beware
    By Squawken7700, 12/03/09
First off, You have to know what you are buying. If you are thinking a cruise, cabin, great meals, shows and so on, forget it. This is not that kind of cruise.
This is a water taxi to the Bahamas. You stay in hotels, not on the Cruise Ship. The DIscovery was built in 1954 and has cruised under several names. While a nice ship in it's prime, ...

  • Very nice trip! Bahamas was amazing
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/18/09
I went to Freeport, Grand Bahama on Discovery Cruise Line's 1 day trip from Fort Lauderdale. We went there in August, and the weather was hot & sunny. The buffe (food) was OK, but not something special. The ship is small and OK, but most people spend outside in sun deck and it has some enterteiment. Lots of tourist!

    When we arrived in ...

  • Very Good for the price spent
    By Reuben, 11/16/09
Actually, when reading the previous reviews I must say that I got very worried and almost changed my mind. But, as my family and I decided to go ahead with the trip, we found it to be very comfortable. We booked the discovery plus (which was like a VIP treatment), and the meals and service afforded were very good. The service in the restuarant and ...

  • Enjoyed myself Alot
    By Blossom, 11/05/09
I enjoyed my trip on the Discovery, its not the Royal Caribbean and i wasnt expectiing that. The food was ok and there was plenty of fresh fruits for breakfast and dinner. I was disappointed we werent offered a complimentary drink or soda. Someone accidentally opened the bottled water on the table and it cost them $1.95...that was a total set ...

  • well worth the price
    By lawrenceC, 11/01/09
ship is old, but this cruise line is great for people on a tight budget. I have been on that ship at least 8 times in 20 years. It is not a cruise line for the rich.It is for those that are trying to get away on a very tight budget. For that reason it is great.I'm sure many familys would not have gone on a vacation like this is it wasn't there for them.

  • Waste of time
    By PY MD, 10/09/09
This cruise is basically a very over priced water taxi. It is old, dingy, and surprisingly smelly. My wife and I betting each other how long ago it was built (1970s vs early 80s). Breakfast and dinner were both bad (and it's hard to screw up breakfast, right?) Poor flavors and selections. The wait staff are unhelpful and unfriendly, constantly proding you for a tip.

  • STRANDED! By Discovery Cruies Line
    By Rich, 10/01/09
I was also on the cruise last spring that left hundreds of us stranded on the island, due to mechanical failure of the Discovery Cruise Line, AKA "The Rat". The ship is old and dated. The whole ship smelled of mold and mildew. The motors were loud and vibrated the walls and ceilings. The trip took 6 hours, compared to a 30 min. flight. ...

  • Better than I was expecting
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/06/09
Most everything went smoothly -- from boarding, breakfast and dinner, getting our cabin, to being entertained. The ship is in alright condition. Breakfast was okay, dinner on the way back was much better. My son had a blast in the Teen Room going to Freeport and on the way back. Most of our family also hung out in there as there were many games ...
