  • Valuable time and memories
    By Kasey, 02/10/08
I remember my dad giving my mother actual Atocha coin earrings (not the replicas) when i was in high school. shortly after giving birth to our 5th child, my husband won a cruise through work. a stop in key west led us to the museum where my husband presented me with pair of my own earrings! in just a few months, we are going back to key west with our children, and i can't wait to share this wonderful experience with my children!

When in Key West, make this a stop on the list. Mel Fisher was lucky treasure hunter. And what he found was the mother load. The bars of silver here are amazing! There is also gold and jems to be found. Artifacts from the ships and where there were found. So close to the island of Key West. There is a finger bar of gold here that you can pick up ...

  • Great Place
    By Hung M, 11/19/07
Museum was really nice. Atmosphere kind of reflects the old Key West. Lots of relics and jewels from shipwrecks. Thought it would be smaller, but it is two stories. Well worth the money.

  • I would do it again
    By Charlie, 03/17/07
This is just one of those things you need to do. For $11 for can do and come ALL DAY. It is so close to many other things and Deval ST in the down town.

  • Mel's revenge
    By A Yahoo! User, 02/24/07
The museum has a nice layout and building.
The displays are very good, not as much of the artifacts on display as I had hoped for.
Unfortunately no tours of the actual conservation going on upstairs, I wish they would add it as a special tour, would bring the museum from a grade of C+ to A.
One big kick that you can not miss while there is the ...

  • ' do it again !

is what I plan to do. I was entralled with the treasures displayed there. I bought a silver tie tack just to have something from the "find." I don't wear ties much either. The price was $50.00 and that's something for me to spend on such. I watched the movies of the quest for the treasures and wished that I was there when they ...

  • Go to duval street
    By Marissa K, 05/10/06
$11 to get in. You see more treasure in the stores. The video was a waste of time. Did not like at all. My mom was also very unhappy. The only plus is seeing one of the large gold chains. THe museum is more about some slave ship, not the treasure or atocha.

  • Fun and Informative for All Ages
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/16/05
We loved it!! I saw families with kids of all ages and never heard "when are we leaving?" or "I'm bored". The exhibits are set up with a wonderful eye for tying the enthralling history of the ships, passengers and cargo to the search and discovery by this amazing man - Mel Fisher. There was a definite feeling of the ...
