You can not visit Washington without seeing the Vietnam War Memorial. Walking distance from Lincoln Memorial, Korean Memorial and Roosevelt Park. Bring tissues because it is likely you will cry.
Would highly recommend folks include this, as well as the adjoining memorials, in their tour of the Nation's capital. This place helps to put your life in perspective and provides an appreciation for those who live their lives in Service so that we can enjoy the freedoms that we do here in America....

Very Memorable
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/16/05
Location is alright, but the beauty and the message you get out of visiting is wonderful. A great place to take visitors. It should always be a stop on your "tour" of DC.
Probably one of the most moving experiences one could have. You can't help but feel part of it. Best visited in the early evening after dark. Words cannot describe it. I have no family members on the wall, nonetheless I can't recommend it enough.
I liked that you could see everyone that visits this memorial is overcome with emotion that these people have gave there life for us. It's very emotional to be there.

the wall
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/15/05
The path slowly slopes downward as the wall and the list of names gets larger and larger. At the beginning of the path people are talking and there is noise from the surroundings. Gradually, the distracting sounds give way and silence echoes from the wall.

Honoring History with future
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/14/05
I loved the statue. How the people who came there honored the present, past and future marines. It was a person feeling having served with some of these great people who willing sacrificed everything. The pride the statue held was amazing. The flag flowing, there is nothing I could say to explain the experience completely. Semper Fi
it was a very moving place to go to and relfect on those who died. the 2 visits were on rainy days which added to the somberness of the mood of the Wall.
I visited the Vietnam Veterans Memorial when I was in middle school and still remember it very well today. It is something that stays with you for life. To realize that American men and boys paid the high price for not just our freedom, but the freedoms of others, it just made me feel proud that I am an American.

This is a "has to visit"!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/27/05
I can't imagine going to Washington DC and not visiting the Viet Nam War Memorial. It's breath taking as well as heart breaking. The silence around the wall is deafening, only hearing voices from our past! Please make this a journey, it will stay in your soul forever.
