I found this by accident while walking in the D.C. mall last month. As a fan of sculpture and Einstein, I was thrilled. This memorial should not be missed.

A secret about this monument
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/30/07
I went to GWU for college, and spent a lot of time just hanging out with "Al" at this monument. We discovered late one night (or rather, very early one morning) that if you stand in the very center of the concentric circles on the platform around the monument and talk to the statue, you'll hear an echo. It's the coolest thing ever

I wasn't able to actually go into the museum because we arrived too late in the evening, but the enormous Einstein is a very neat statue-exactly as you picture him, but large enough that several people in a group can sit on his lap or kiss his cheek! It's so close to the other monuments, you might as well stop by and snap a picture!!

My favorite place in the city
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/11/07
This is a little known treasure hiding in plain sight at a very busy corner. It's a little bit of serenity in the madness of the city.
Einstein sits at roughly 4 times human form here in front of the National Science Foundation along Constitution Avenue.
Sculpted by the Robert Berk (the same artist who did the Kennedy bust in the Kennedy Center). Alpert is big enough to hold you and your whole family in his lap.
He is holding a document with his famous equation e=mc2 and surrounded by the cosmos.
If nothing else it is a beautiful setting, free and great photo op.

I loved this memorial. What's cool is when you stand in the center of the circle where the lines meet, face Einstein, and talk, it echoes back at you.
it is an amazig place to be and it has a wonderful atmoisphere, i loved it because it was beutiful and i like the theory that he thaught of e=mc squered
if you believe albert einstein to be one of the most important figures of the 20th century...this is for you. you get to sit on his lap (now how many people can say they sat on a famous scientist's lap?). the best part about it is that considering the attractions the mall offers...this is relatively vacant. after leaving the hot, humid, cramped mall we ventured over to see albert and he was all alone. it was a nice, quiet reprive.

This place was a lot of fun! We enjoyed all of Washington, DC, but this place was one of our favorites! I think that everyone should visit it, at least once! It was a great way to symbolize the importance of Einstein to our country
