Lincoln Memorial was more breath taking then I had ever expected. It's just beyond words to try and describe the atmosphere here. For the most part the adults that were there were very respectful and in aww of this memorial but they allowed the kids to run about and disrupt others. I found that very disrespectful to us and the nation. I would ...

WHY LINCOLN IS BEHIND BARS AND NOT ALLOWED TO SEE JEFFERSON MEMORIAL? DID HE HATE HIM?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/17/08
Its a wonderful and pleasent place. Architecture is great, everything else is fine. But if I was sitting in place of Lincoln there, Who is now, not allowed to look anywhere else but right in front. There are so many pillars in front of his statue. Right in front of him is washington monument which totally obstructs his view of Jefferson ...
This was an amazing sight to see. Our group, (15- 7th & 8th graders on a school trip during spring break 20 years ago), went in the evening. Viewing the combination of the Lincoln Memorial, the reflecting pool and the Washington Memorial in the distance all lit up in the evening was breathtaking. It seemed like time stood still and everything was silent, which only intensified what we were seeing, feeling, understanding and respecting.

The view was great. I finally got to see what I only read about in history books. I can't wait to go there again.
The most powerful memorial in the city. Fitting memorial for the man that saved the U.S. I could spend hours there. Go at night. It is much more moving at night. And take time to read his speeches on the wall and really reflect on their meanings.
The hole tour in through the National Mall was like taking a step back in time. You saw the Washington Monument,State Caoital and the Lincoln Memorial...Some shops and other storys to visit and buy different things. The complete tour was a rewarding experence.
