It was surreal being in the same place that Lincoln was, and then to know he was shot there....what a historical piece of real estate!

What a BLAST!
By WildSngrNY, 08/23/05
I love that there's always a quality show, plus the daytime touristy info and the fact that Lincoln's box is closed in perpetuity. Neato!

Penny tree
By Valli, 08/27/05
We took my son here when he was young but he still enjoyed it since he had heard teh stories. To be in a place where something like this happened gave me goosebumps. Across teh street is a neat little tree outside of the place he died. Many have taken gum and attached a Lincoln head penny to it in his honor. We added one , too.

Across the street is the house where Lincoln died. It is called the house where Lincoln died. There is a bedroom and a bed. There is also a good waffle place next door.

History and more!

If you can see a play in this small theater I would recommend it. The theater is so small that every seat is a good one. If not, I'd still recommend going to the museum on the bottom floor and taking the tour.

Historical and home of wonderful events
By chris_shenefiel, 09/24/05
The theatre managers host wonderful productions in this nationally historic location. During the anniversary of Lincoln's death, special decorations and exhibits along with the home across the street are opened to the public for a solemn commemoration.
The museum in the basement of the theatre hosts amazing artifacts of the Lincoln family ...

Loved the sense of history I felt while looking at the exhibits. I felt I better understood the importance of what happened in the last days of Lincoln's life.

A wonderful spot to take a rest and catch up on the history of one of our greatest Presidents. Our young kids enjoyed every minute of the visit!
