Across the street is the house where Lincoln died. It is called the house where Lincoln died. There is a bedroom and a bed. There is also a good waffle place next door.

  • Penny tree
    By Valli, 08/27/05
We took my son here when he was young but he still enjoyed it since he had heard teh stories. To be in a place where something like this happened gave me goosebumps. Across teh street is a neat little tree outside of the place he died. Many have taken gum and attached a Lincoln head penny to it in his honor. We added one , too.

One word says it all, class. That and quality, service, heritage. Nuff said.

  • What a BLAST!
    By Rachel, 08/23/05
I love that there's always a quality show, plus the daytime touristy info and the fact that Lincoln's box is closed in perpetuity. Neato!

  • 2005 Vacation Stop
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/02/05
Located just east of the White House and north of the Mall, the Ford Theater is close to the Metro station. The theater is still home to productions except for the summer months. It was open for viewing when we arrived. The theater is small with not much to see other than the balcony where Lincoln was shot. There is a very nice museum in the basement which will take you about 30 minutes to view. There were no fees to enter.

  • Simply Awesome

It was surreal being in the same place that Lincoln was, and then to know he was shot there....what a historical piece of real estate!

well we had already learned a ton about lincolns assasination in school so we already knew the whole story but if you dont know the story its a really good place to go because they are very informative but if you go to Ford's Theatre then you should also go to the Peterson House which is right across the street

  • See a show and visit a National Park- Ford's Theater is Both
    By sumware, 05/10/05
We’ve been to the Ford Theater as an audience members (saw Eleanor, the story of FDR and Eleanor, several years ago) and as tourists. We have wonderful memories of both.
If you can attend a performance here, try to do that, after all that is what Lincoln was doing when this theater entered the history books. (http://www.fordstheatre.org). ...
