This is how I felt when I walked into this house. What I loved the most besides the educational experience is the russian collection. I was ficinated by the beautiful pieces that Mrs. Majorie collected from all over the world. The gift shop is filled with beautiful pieces if you are a collector like me.

If you love Russian history, this is the place to see Russian antiques from the Russian Revolution. Post's decorating is impeccable and her taste in antiques acquisition was exquisite. The house is opulent but restrained and small and initimate. The czar's and czarina's personal objects are heartbreaking. The grounds are a bit of a disappointment though.

Beautiful grounds, beautiful house and objects. It is not overwhelming and you can spend a nice, leisurely day here, strolling in the garden, having lunch in the cafe (reasonably priced, but try to make a reservation ahead of time) and a tour of the house and some of the adjoining buildings.
