We had great plans to visit the McAllister House. We even called ahead of time to make a reservation only to be told--no reservations necessary. We arrive, and it wasn't at all what we were told. The doors were locked, the sign said open, but no one was in sight. What a disappointment. Better think twice before you put this on your daily vacation agenda.

Exciting history in a nutshell! What a great presentation by Ms Lakes! We were transported back through the early days of our state/nation on a fun and very respectful tour of our history. Our tour guide was enthusiastic as well as knowledgeable. The house is lovely and in immaculate condition. Original pieces from the family remain. Each room has a special story or piece our guide brought to life. A real hidden gem in downtown Colorado Springs.
