The short hike through the woods was one of the least interesting in the park. There is a nice view of Half Dome towards the beginning of the trail. And the 'viewing point' also along the way is another nice view of the falls. If the hike were any longer, I'd say just skip and stick with the view from the road. But since it's short I recommend this one.
This is the MOST popular hike in Yosemite Valley and there are a lot of people at the base of the falls. It's a paved trail so don't expect to go nature-boy on this one. Personally I think it's too crowded to simply get a little bit better view of the lower falls.
