I loved everything about the groves. I especially liked how easy it ws to walk to the lower grove which took about an hour round trip. You see enormous tree including Big Grizzly the largest diameter of any tree west of the missisippi. Only con the heat it was 95 degrees
First off, the trees are oh-my-gosh magnificent! The highlight for me was hiking to the very top, (6810 feet elevation) and experiancing that view. It's a total of about 6 miles but well worth it. Take water with you and go to the bathroom before you leave. Plan on about 3 hours for the hike itself.
Mariposa Grove is sooo serene and beautiful!!! Walking up the trails made me think of owning property up in the mountains...they trails are sooo long and great for excersise or just relaxing!!!
I hope there BIG BEAUTYS keep growing for thousands and thousands of more years....
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE dont step over the trail lines...traffic too ...

what a tree!

I never seemed so small as I stood at the base of these giant trees. Words cannot express or pictures show how great these trees are. If you are ever given a chance, you must go see these great trees.
First of all I suggest that you hike this because the tram ride does not stop at any tree for very long at all.
My favorite trees: Grizzly Giant (of course) because of thickness of not just the trunk but the arms too.
Telescope Tree: hollow and still loving? Wow!
Other top picks: The tunnel trees (one fallen, one not) The Clothespin ...

Hi,
I am really surprised at the one star review I just read it and I want to say that I am from Spain and I've been to California 3 times in my life, the last one less than a month ago and every time I go I visit Yosemite so that means that I've been to Mariposa Grove 3 times with this last one and I think it's awsome. It is really ...

If you love trees you must visit this special place!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/12/06
I have visited this grove twice, one in the fall and once in the spring, my memories of this place are magical. When standing under these silent giants you gte the feeling of safety and security but also of serenity. This is a very peaceful place, I rank it second only to the Avenue of the Giants (another must visit.)
I have been to the Mariposa Grove twice in my life. The first time was when I was around 14 years old (I am now 32) and my family and I hiked the path up to the historic cabin.
More recently I ventured to the Mariposa Grove in the winter and if you've got a spare day then you absolutely must see the Mariposa Grove. If you are fortunate ...
It was a cherished dream to go to Yosemite N.P. and to know we would visit the wonderful Mariposa Grove - such majesty! The sequoias are truly representative of all that is beautiful in such a tranquil setting - we would certainly recommend anyone visits and do not just take a day trip but plan a week at least - all the facilities within the park ...

These trees are magnificent!

Please ignore that review which rated the Mariposa Grove 1/5 stars. First, admission to the park is only $20 per car, and that admission fee can be used for several days. The giant sequoias are a sight to behold-- they are huge, cinnamon colored structures often reaching as high as 1800 feet. They can live hundreds and hundreds of years, and ...
